SOD3 Recruitment and Promotion
Recruitment can be difficult in SOD2. You either have to buy someone from an enclave or wait forever for someone to want to join. However, I would imagine with the kind of chaos in this world there would be survivors who lost their group, have been alone, or want to get away from people in their enclave, who are looking for a new home.
I tend to be more connected to the characters I have helped find their child, lover, or friend, just to find that they were killed. when we recruit them. I wish these quests would happen more often, and perhaps other missions that help us develop a connection with new recruits. this is where I think the promotion from recruit to citizen etc. becomes more about working with others, than getting points.
So as a recruit, you have limited access to the community inventory. They are only allowed to take out specific ammo, Or a more trusted community member could give them more resources to carry with them. The more they do resource runs/ and missions with other survivors the more they gain a reputation and have access to better guns, ammo, and explosives in the inventory. (outside you giving them the weapons they need, unassigned weapons and ammo go back to inventory on return). The more they build relationships with other survivors the higher their rank becomes. until they are full citizens with full access. hero status should be because this survivor has done things that others cannot. i.e. taking out 3 Plague Hears in a single run, or getting more Zed kills than any of the other survivors. for example.
this opens ups the opportunity to have romantic relationships within the community. as I read in other posts. this also would help us as players feel more connected to the characters as we have to earn them rather than buy them. when we have heroes, we would want to protect them more than the recruit.
(Thank you undead labs for listening to your community. The Wishlist is a brilliant Idea, and no matter what is in the next game I am grateful that I had a voice in it.)
