Improvements and Wishlist for SOD2/SOD3
I have a plethora of improvements and wishlist items for SOD2 and SOD3...
Starting with Improvements on SOD2...*deep breathe*...
1. First and foremost: NPCs when they ride with you... You NEED to have an option in the settings (which in my opinion should be defaulted to Off) that turns on/off the NPC's ability to open your vehicle door(s) in hopes to hit a "zombie"... In my own experience, I have seen over a thousand doors ripped off from this unnecessary action on the NPC's behalf. Especially in later/higher difficulty modes where vehicle damage is increased. And on the other side of the coin, I have lost many a companion and survivor of my own due to the person I am escorting opening the door to try and hit a bloater... and successfully grazing his belly button to in turn create and instant void cloud of non-fun inside my vehicle, where I am normally forced out of at a high speed, only to roll out and stand up to a Plague Feral coming to hug me...
2. Base Customization: I do enjoy the simplicity of the base building/upgrade system we CURRENTLY have... but I see some issues from a "what I would do if I was in this actual scenario" Point of View... there are a LOT of bases that have a TON of extra room that VISUALLY shows you could fit another small or even large slot there... one of the best Examples is the Lundegaard Lumber Mill in Providence Ridge. If you look at the base, on the right side (east end) There is a large slot in the top right, and one in the bottom right... and in between is an area that has a small fireplace and some metal lawn chairs... this space is larger than BOTH of the space the right side large slots take up... and SHOULD offer at LEAST a outdoor small slot... So to bring this topic to a point... Add a more structured building system, maybe even a more "free range" system where everything is on a grid system and we can remove things that we dont need and build what we can within that space. For example, leave hard walls and stairs etc etc in place, but things like barrels, chairs, radios, etc, have the ability to be removed to make space for a potential slot.
3. Daybreak: This is an awesome mode that offers even better rewards. Good work on this. I have played over easily 100 hours of JUST Daybreak (I went through A LOT of Red Talon agents when we were first able to recruit em... RIP to like the 20 some I have lost in my oldest community lol) But as far as a feedback point goes... I have noticed that for some reason I was able to pull off soloing it after a while of learning the tricks and nowadays I can barely make it past like wave 5... Modes like this should be EASIER for the less players, BUT ALSO, slightly less rewarding overall, encouraging parties to try and fill to full to get the maximum benefit, but while also being something that a solo only player can ACTUALLY accomplish...
4. A simple Time of Day system... making it easier to gauge dark and light times...maybe spending Influence to buy watches from enclaves, or making them with wiring/materials at a workshop and having slots for stuff like that and other things on a sperate space for inventory.
P.S. Thank you for adding Prestige as a reward to the normal game for doing Sieges. Even the smallest Prestige WITHIN the normal game is a plus, until the day we get the Legendary RT Propaganda Speaker (ya know the one, does radio speeches just like we hear all the time from RT, but only we get the benefits) that gives us daily prestige ;)
I have a lot more for SOD2 but will keep the thread somewhat *short* and now move onto SOD3 wishlist...
1. I know people harp on "story story story", BUT they aren't looking at the grand design... this IS a zombie apocalypse game, the STORY is DON'T DIE AND WIN... BUT... you guys have already set up a story in the game... All the different things we hear throughout playing from The Network, RT, etc etc and adding Heartland... If you are not ALREADY going on this path, I think part of the main game, or even whatever the new Heartland will be for SOD3... It should dive into the story lines of either RT or The Network and how they dealt with the apoc, maybe even AS it initially happened, (think of like The Last of Us TV show Episode 1, sets up the WHOLE series for us) Maybe show how they fought off the zombies and how it all ties in... Addition to this section... When it comes to your OWN survivors "Personal Goals/Story"... Seeing more of a reward of something that Benefits the community overall would be nice... the ones that end up with a "High Value" trade item...that sells for 34 Influence....VERY LACKLUSTER...Perhaps maybe make UNIQUE Mods for Weapons/Facilities for doing them, or Rare Survivors you rescue, etc etc... Just a little more rewarding than a sub-par weapon or trade item that doesnt have a real use.
2. For SOD3's Daybreak game mode: Something very similar to what Daybreak is, but maybe make it a small base out in a field or something, and you are doing a VIP extraction, maybe even Lilly Ritter or someone very high up in the chain of command for a group. And maybe add a resource style to it where you can slowly build towers for extra support soldiers to occupy and snipe for you... (maybe have them only shoot at the speed of the ENCLAVE version of Sniper Support, not the BASE version that is faster) While also having to keep walls/fences repaired like we already deal with.
3. The Map: I know making maps and all the details that go into it takes a LOT OF TIME... but I know a large portion of the community that are HORDECORE like me (lol dont delete me) would prefer EVEN BIGGER maps... more to explore and more secrets to find... maybe do something SIMILAR to how you have Trumble Valley for Heartland and then the Trumble Valley for the normal game has 3 more extra areas to explore... but make it an option to CHOOSE each location as a small, med, or large approach... with each selection having plague hearts to match size...
4. Vehicles: Awesome job on the improvements to SOD2 vehicle inventory. I was always confused how the van did not have more slots when it visually has the most room. But for SOD3, I agree with the community, even though Days Gone has it, but a motorcycle would be a nice addition....but I dont think SOD players realize.... if a feral catches you... and THEY WILL... there is nothing to protect you... you are comin off that bike...at a high speed at that lol... But motorcycles would be a nice addition... maybe even get crazy and add a stealth element by adding foldable carriable Bicycles... same approach as far as vulnerability but WAY less noise to cause a party...
5. A larger variety of "funny" zombies and even adding "rare" zombies with loot... instead of the classic mission where you discover an entire dead enclave that turns when you arrive, just also have random ones out in the world wandering out, kinda like how if you lose your own survivor to a horde, it becomes part of that horde if it turns. And as far as the funny ones, just adding a few more, and make them appear SLIGHTLY more often...
6. Weapon Customizations: Adding the ability to customize weapons more... for example... being able to add extended clips to weapons that dont already have one... being able to add better scopes to rifles, things like this... better buttstocks to AR's... make it cost a good amount and be something to work towards if you wanna mod out a weapon even from baseline.... (think of like COD/Warzone approach, obviously dont copy paste, but something LIKE that would be awesome)
7. Similar to Weapons, also making survivors themselves more customizable. Hair, accessories, etc etc, I love the closet of clothes option, keep that, but also more to the customization.
8. Enclaves as a whole: I do love the way enclaves work now, how they offer added perks to your community, supply drops, assistance, etc etc... KEEP THAT....BUT... make them MORE in depth in my opinion.... maybe go as far as being able to UPGRADE THEIR base by using Materials, or a specific resource for JUST them, and ALSO make it an option to ARM them better, either by the same method of a resource, or even giving them some of your own Ammo/Materials to make/have better weapons. Nothing is more sad than an Enclave that 2 out of 3 of the survivors LITERALLY have NOTHING but a screwdriver to fend off zombies with, while the 3rd guy has the worst and slowest bolt action rifle in the game to miss more than half his shots while you help them.
These are just a FEW of my thoughts and opinions of SOD2 and potential things for SOD3.
You guys have done an awesome job with the game, zombie survival is my favorite genre and I have more time in SOD2 than almost any other game I have played in my Life...
Thanks for reading this and I look forward to SOD3.
See you all in the fields of blood plague.
-A very avid SOD player.
