I have an idea.

Heartbreak is a huge purchasable upgrade in the State of Decay franchise, bringing the entire playable story and assets of SoD1 and its expansions, upgraded and re-worked for game engine and plot compatibility. As such, it is incompatible with communities and survivors from previous versions of the game, which means installing it will result in all existing game data, excepting Daybreak and Bounty Broker progress, being permanently deleted.
Aside from merging the State of Decay story into a comprehensive and flowing narrative, this expansion brings major updates to every element of the game, from mechanics to equipment, to how that equipment enters the game, including some of the most popular suggestions from this very Wish List.
The Bounty Broker will remain, with a few tweaks. Unbeknownst to Red Talon, their efforts to hack blueprints from the CLEO drones always overhead have not gone unnoticed. We don't know if he's working alone, or if he's a member of some mysterious group, but whatever the case may be, he obtains access to Red Talon's hacking endeavors almost as soon as they're achieved, and if you can prove yourself by completing his challenges, he's willing to open up his stock to you, Survivor. You just need to trade him Prestige credits.
This update also gives much-needed purpose to saving a community of up to 50 survivors, beyond merely gaining a small advantage in higher difficulties with but three of them.
The following outlines what I had in mind:
Chapter One: Breakdown
We are introduced to Marcus Campbell, Ed Jones, Maya Torres, and Lily Ritter; the remnants of a US Army detachment, led by Sergeant Erik Tan and Captain Diane Montressor; Judge Lawson and his charges; as well as the outlaw Wilkerson family. Here, we see the terrifying beginnings of the so-called 'Black Fever', set in Trumbull Valley, but with the open-world 'sandbox' design of SoD2, including the story told in Lifeline.
Chapter Two: State of Decay
Unfortunately for the 'lucky' escapees of Trumbull, they've run out of gas in unfamiliar country, somewhat south of Trumbull Valley in a place called [Meagher Valley/Cascade Hills/Drucker County]. Here, the survivors discover an extremely virulent mutation of zombiehood which threatens to destroy everything remaining of humanity. Someone decided to call it 'blood plague', so that's what it is called. Here, the survivors are tasked with clearing blood plague, reducing the zombie population, and with the help of new recruits and enclaves of allies, establishing a new legacy.
Chapter Three: Heartland
We are brought back to Trumbull, where residents are trapped after the only land access to the valley is mysteriously destroyed, and a freakish blood plague mutation is taking over. We gain new insight into the zombie apocalypse, meet some new faces, deal with some familiar faces, and shape a renewed sense of hope for the future of humanity. But we also discover new questions and concerns that need to be addressed.
Chapter Four: Heartbreak
With the blood plague destroyed in [territory], and the plague walls being tentatively managed in Trumbull Valley, everyone involved is looking to the future; how to get humanity back on track and the zombie problem under control.
Red Talon, The Network, and all the survivors of [territory] need to reconnect with their assets/friends/family in Trumbull Valley, and to the rest of the world.
The survivors currently trapped in Trumbull Valley, physically isolated and without comms to the outside world, need to establish contact to update them on the blood plague's latest mutation. Is there something unique about Trumbull that caused this mutation? Was it intentional? A mistaken release of a biological weapon? Is there a vaccine? Everyone needs answers.
Heartbreak sheds light on old questions (e.g. Who took out the only bridge leading into Trumbull, and why?), spawns new ones, and opens up the world of the Zombie Apocalypse, setting the pace for at least this small patch of the human species to either survive or perish.
Aided by a couple of your most trusted companions, you set off from [territory] into neighboring regions, establishing new homesites, welcoming new companions, building alliances, clearing blood plague infestations before they can mutate into plague walls, and achieving greater legacies of this, the new human condition. Will you take sides, Red Talon versus The Network versus whomever else? Will you try to broker peace and cooperation with everyone? Will you break off into regions unknown to discover the truth of just how widespread the zombie threat really is? Or will you hunker down with a few friends, and hope it all just blows by you?
Your choices have permanent consequences, Survivor. What legends will be told of before the Zombie Apocalypse (BZ), and the aftermath (AZ)? Is your name included in oral and written histories? Which choices will you make? How will you choose to survive the latest state of decay?
I have an idea.
