You now have the ability to que up your base actions so that when one completes, the next starts, in order. If for whatever reason the next action can no longer be completed, (you used some resources, etc.) it's skipped and the game continues down the list. The cost for actions should either be paid in advance, or when the it's the action's turn in the queue-- player choice. This way, you can pay for things you need done and things that would "just be nice to have" can be handled if you happen to have the resources for them.
Bonus points if you can set actions to repeat at regular intervals, like activating the Compound Bin or Fertilizer, training your survivors in the various facilities, or cleaning the latrine. Hey, someone's gotta do it, right?
The benefit is that it keeps players in the game. More time fighting, looting, and paying attention to their surroundings instead of trying to juggle things with the base. No more cars getting swarmed by freaks because the driver just HAD to open up the base menu and start up the Satellite right. This. Second. (okay, less of that, but it's a start)
