Players using Bladed or Blunt weapons often find themselves waiting helplessly for a random finishing animation to complete while in the midst of combat with multiple zeds. There is no mechanic for the player to decide which finisher is used during combat. Another issue is the occasional forced auto targeting of downed zeds that are of no immediate threat to the player when the player is trying to engage mobile hostile zeds in proximity to the downed zed. This is especially problematic in Nightmare zone and will probably be a death sentence in the upcoming higher difficulty mode. An option to either have a toggle so survivors only use quick finishers or enable the slow ones when only one zombie is present would greatly increase the survivability of veterans and new players alike in all difficulties. Aother possibility is to have the slow finishers replace the default stealth kill for bladed and blunt weapons.
