I know this is a lot, but I would love for the State of Decay franchise to evolve into a Role Playing game.
The game can still be specific to playing as a community, but I would love to see a somewhat slower pace game where you don't get missions/opportunities via the radio every few minutes with some coming back if not addressed earlier.
Part of the slower pace is either a MUCH larger map or the reduced use/availability of cars (if not outright removing them). Not being able to drive anywhere quicker means the game can't say "hey your base will have a horde in 5-10 mins" if it's going to take you just that much or longer to get there.
It means missions/opportunities would have to occur more through face-to-face interactions when you have someone out scavenging or exploring.
The setting could be that you and a couple of others are new to a map. You establish a base and then start interacting with other enclaves as one would normally do in an RPG. More in-depth history and backgrounds for the enclaves that get revealed through conversation wheels and missions.
The story can be anything from dealing with the threat of zombies and special infected to human threats to hunting/sharing resources. The options available could still fall in Warlord, Trader, Sheriff, and Builder categories. With either building an alliance or an empire, a focus on goods/services to creative innovations.
There could still be generated characters, but also the possibility of special story-focused characters.
Survival would still be the core game, but the interactions with the world and other groups would be more complex and layered.
