We are aware that there is the occasional problem with people being able to start their Legacy missions after defeating the last Plague Heart on the map. You will know you have defeated the blood plague in your zone when your Primary Objective changes to Promote a Leader or Define your Legacy. It is also communicated that all Plague Hearts are defeated through character dialogue. The character will say something about this Plague Heart being the last one. There is also generally some chatter about defeating the blood plague after its defeat.
If you are certain you have defeated the blood plague, then we are aware of a couple of situations in which players can be blocked from starting their Legacy mission.
The first scenario is that there is an active Leader mission (or sometimes a mission for another community member's personal arc) for someone in the community. Start that mission - you can complete it or abandon it - and that should get you started.
The second scenario is not as well defined. That said, it seems that eliminating some enclaves from the map will usually get the Legacy missions started.
If neither of these things starts your legacy, please submit a request and we will try to gather more information.

Hello im a customer of state of decay 2 I have had the game before it was released none of these things helped can you please fix the game glitch
I had the same problem and remembered that at certain plague hearts, I didn't collect all the items it contained after it died so some didn't collapse. I'm thinking that that is a necessary step before you get credit for that particular heart. I started over (simply because I didn't remember where they all had been and I didn't want to scour the map to find them). I take all the items now even if I immediately drop them and have not had this problem since. Hope this helps.
I had this game for one month and I almost had 2/4 of the legacy traits done but this glitch is keeping me for finishing the game I would like it if you where to kindly lead me to the right detection in the game or to go fix the bug
hi i am trying to complete the warlord mission legacy but the mission Smash the Coalition does not happen also it bounces me back to A New Beginning also does this only happen with regular survivors as i have used red talon as leaders but this also keeps happening
Hi, I'm facing the same issue as seekerdude. My leader is a regular survivor - warlord. The mission "Smash the Coalition" does not appear. Please help. Im stuck for weeks. Just roaming around hoping the mission will appear.
hi
have done all your survivor other missions ie find a mace/ timberwolf other ambient goals then give it a go
Hi, I do not have any active missions. Have completed any missions that appear.
Impossible to continue with the warlord legacy. Shame on stupid and inept programmers. Year 2021 and there are still the bugs that prevent the game from passing. And they just add shitty skins. Fucking scammers. Never more.
Please fix this. I'm on builder legacy and after I complete building the sniper tower, it does not let me go forward. I know you guys have been very good about fixing the glitches unlike some gaming companies.
I have cleared out all the plague hearts (but I haven't looted them all to make them completely disappear out of survival reasons) and completed the builder quests. The quest that begins the point-of-no-return does not trigger. It's been a few days since I've done the builder quests. I do not want to go back and look for the plague hearts that were not completely looted. It was a tactical decision. I hope you can fix this especially since this is Lethal.
We can solve this bug by eliminating allied enclaves in the game. Theres is a maximum number of enclaves. When we are going to complete the legacy mission, especially the last one, the game tries to creat new enclaves and fails because the maximum amount has already been reached . In this way, the game restarts legacy missions.
To elimininate some enclaves in the game, just attract hordes on top of it or recruit a member.
still got this glitch, glad I didn't buy this game and it's on xbox pass
To all developers of undead lab,
if you think you cannot handle your jobs, then simply just quit your jobs.
I've been playing since update 16 and all I've found is nothing but bugs.
You guys have done nothing but adding more bugs.
After 3 years of release, don't you think it should be bug free?
Shame on you!
I am not aware of any glitch, though there is a pre-condition that does ruin the Legacy Mission completely and you can easily solve it on your own. I will try to be as informative as possible about this massive issue, as it is something that is easily misunderstood.
The Game has an HARD CAP at how many Survivor Enclaves can be formed on the map. The game needs to have it otherwise every house would be filled with Survivor Enclaves and not only it would eat up extra resources (Computing Power), these would become completely annoying to deal during a late game stage due to constant "Alliance Maintenance Missions", without mencioning that all houses can be populated with enclaves...
So let's go through an example that i have experienced during gameplay:
> One of my early objectives was to fill up the map with as many survivor enclaves as possible, (obviously aiming to get the best possible benefits that would allow me to achieve a self-sufficient community - Which i did accomplished);
I did notice that after a certain point, any radio calls that would summon Survivor Enclaves stopped working "It seems no one is around" kinda of response is given to you. When you see this, it means you have reached the MAX CAP of Enclaves on the map (It doesn't matter if these are your Enemies or Allies all of them will count). During Gameplay this will kill the game completely, there won't be any new missions, nor new survivors to meet it will be extremely boring as the only Missions you will receive there will be only the "Alliance Maintenance Missions" or the Radio Call Missions for Scavenge Supplies, Destroy Plague Hearts and other specific ones that don't create Survivor Enclaves.
If you happen to go through the legacy missions, most likely the first initial missions will function properly, and without any notable issue. If there is glitches or bugs at the initial stage i am unaware of them.
However, the last couple of missions... are interesting.
As the game will randomly create survivors, as a Survivor Enclave, though these will appear directly at your base going through an attempt to join you. (This is when you can increase the community to a max of 12 members!)
HOWEVER! If the limit of enclaves, THE HARD CAP is met beforehand, then the Legacy Mission will never progress further, and you won't ever see these survivors appear. You will be what seems to be "Stuck". I assure you this is an issue you can control.
All you have to do is Destroy between 1-2 Enclaves on your map, once you do it then the Legacy Mission with progress. Though after you reject a certain ammount of survivors, an enemy faction will be formed and will look forward to fight you (Point of no Return). (I have always pushed through it, since i already had an well established community and want to end the game).
Though i believe that you can delay the final mission, and look up to recruit more people. Though for this to happen you need to be aware that you might need to destroy at least 2 Enclaves on the map.
I hope everyone understood what i am saying here. It can be hard for me to describe things properly, though this is the notable issue that blocks up legacy missions.
I am surprised and disappointed that the devs have not addressed this yet. It is as easy as defining an ABSOLUTE ENCLAVE CAP (Which takes in consideration LEGACY MISSION ENCLAVES, GENERIC MISSION ENCLAVES, GENERIC ENCLAVES (Hostile or Friendly) and TRADER ENCLAVES) and a GENERIC ENCLAVE CAP, obviously only meant for GENERIC ENCLAVES.
This would allow for the game to constantly have missions, force the player to interact with enclaves and always have goals and objectives. Perhaps even promoting world building as the player can't possibly interact with many, making certain enclaves to leave or becoming hostile in a dynamic way. It also wouldn't block up the late Legacy Missions.... Though I'll end it here and i hope this helps many.
My friend ran into this issue and it's definitely tied to Enclaves. In the case of the Sherriff and Trader, it seems both legacies require the existence of multiple Friendly or Allied Enclaves on the map, so if you either don't have room for them (not enough free Enclave slots) or don't have existing Enclaves that can be used for those Legacy mission chains, the initial mission may not trigger normally.
